Milwaukee Scoliosis Corset

The Milwaukee Corset is also called the cervico thoraco lumbo sacral orthosis. This corset support is available in the excellent quality December. In addition, it is not used surgically in scoliosis and other treatments.

What is the Milwaukee Corset

The Milwaukee splint, also known as a cervico-thoraco-lumbo-sacral orthosis or CTLSO, is a back splint used in the treatment of spinal curvatures (such as scoliosis or kyphosis ) in children. It is a complete body that extends from the pelvis to the base of the skull. It was first designed by Blount and Schmidt in 1946 for postoperative care when surgery required long-term immobilization.

The Benefits of the Milwaukee Corset

The Milwaukee splint, also known as a cervico-thoraco-lumbo-sacral orthosis or CTLSO, is a back splint used in the treatment of spinal curvatures (such as scoliosis or kyphosis ) in children. It is a complete body that extends from the pelvis to the base of the skull. It was first designed by Blount and Schmidt in 1946 for postoperative care when surgery required long-term immobilization.

Milwaukee supports are often custom-made on a mold of the patient's torso, but in some cases they can be made from prefabricated parts. A pelvic girdle made of leather or plastic and three rods (two back and one front) are attached to a neck ring. The ring has an anterior throat pattern and two posterior occipital pads that fit on the back of the patient's head. The lateral pads are attached to the rods; the adjustment of these straps keeps the spine in line.

This brace is normally used with growing adolescents to keep a curve progressing from 25 to 40°. The support is designed not to correct the curvature, but to reduce its progress to an acceptable level. If, despite the brace, the progression of the curve beyond 40-50 degrees is pronounced, surgery may be required.

The Milwaukee bra is usually recommended to be worn 23 hours a day until the patient reaches skeletal maturity and growth stops.
