What is a Prosthetic Foot?

A prosthetic foot is an artificial limb used to partially or completely replace the function of the lost foot in case a person loses one or both feet. Prosthetic feet help the person perform daily living activities more independently by increasing their mobility. Prosthetic feet can be made from a variety of materials and can be specifically designed according to the user's needs, lifestyle and physical characteristics.

Prosthetic feet generally consist of the following components:

Socket: The part where the prosthesis is connected to the person's remaining limb.
Connection Parts: Parts that connect the socket and other components of the prosthetic foot.
The Foot Itself: The replacement part for the actual foot is usually made of materials such as carbon fiber, metal, and plastic.
Control Systems: Some advanced prosthetic feet contain microprocessors and sensors to make the user's movements more natural and efficient.
Prosthetic feet allow amputees to perform various physical activities such as walking, running, and climbing stairs and can significantly improve their quality of life.
