Open Heel SMO

The Open Heel SMO offers an open heel modification of the Surestep SMO. This design facilitates rear weight shifts to promote improved squatting, the development of heel-toe gait, and increased sensory input.
 
Instead of the standard heel support, the plastic on the plantar surface of the heel has been cut. We also added a very thin molded inner boot to reduce the risk of compression while maintaining compression and calcaneal position.

Open Heel is a modification that can be applied to any of the following dynamic balance products:
 
SMOs
Big Shot SMOs
Toe-Walking SMOs
Advanced AFOs
 
You can also request this on the SMO portion of any 2-Stage AFO
Dynamic Stability:
These devices provide stability and atypical tone while allowing flexibility/movement. Patients can actively correct when prompted.
