PLS AFO

The Surestep PLS AFO (posterior leaf spring ankle-foot orthosis) is designed for children and adolescents with poor sagittal plane stability, moderate toe walking, or a mild to moderate crouching gait. With its full-length footplate and lightweight support, this AFO resists excessive plantar flexion and dorsiflexion while improving swing-phase range of motion, resulting in a more fluid and efficient gait.

Indications:
  • Weak swing phase gap
  • Mild coronal plane instability
  • Mild to moderate toe walking
  • Moderate to moderate crouch gait
 
Contraindications:
  • Severe coronal plane instability
  • More pronounced hypotonia or hypertonia
  • Greater limitations in range of motion
     
Functional Support:
These devices provide support and stability to support function and eliminate low/high tone. Patients can actively correct when prompted.
 
Alignment Control:
These devices provide maximum support and positioning with limited flexibility within the device and eliminate high tone. Patients can actively correct when prompted.
